Vitesse Away Sells Out Or Have They ?
Wednesday, 29th Jul 2015 11:32

Saints have now sold out all their allocation of tickets for the trip to Arnhem, after some fans queued from 3.30am this morning, or have they ?

There are sure to be a few moans from Saints supporters this morning as tickets for the trip to Vitesse Arnhem went on sale to those season ticket holders who had attended 7 away games or more had their chance.

Some fans started queueing at 3.30am to ensure they had a ticket, but not everyone who queued got a ticket with the remaining tickets snapped up by around 9.10am , meanwhile the online system was strangely quiet and those who chose to book online had no issues getting online at 9am and buying a ticket.

But although Saints have received an allocation of 1,400 tickets for the game, it seems that not all of these have been sold yet and a fair chunk have not been put on sale but held back for those willing to travel with the club's official trips.

The club are saying that anyone who books with them for either a coach trip or by plane will get a match ticket.

The first is a coach trip with 54 spaces at £150 pr person and the second is a flight for £350 with 113 spaces, this means that around 200 tickets have been reserved for those making their travel arrangements through the club.

This is sure to annoy some as it means that with this number plus seats held back for staff and corporate sponsors probably only around 3/4 of the tickets available were on sale to the general public as such.

Of course this is unavoidable and Saints were in a tough position, they had to lay on travel but the problem was that due to the low amount of tickets they needed to save some to nsure they were not left with a half empty flight etc, also sponors have to b looked after although im lead to believe that only a limited number were available to them and there was a ballot.

Th overall situation does not seem to be helped by Vitesse who appear to have not budged an inch in the number of tickets they had to offer, a sensible approach by them could have seen he stadium nearer capacity and virtually every Saints fan who wanted to go getting a ticket, instead we are likely to have a lot of empty seats in home areas alongside hundreds of Saints fans in with Vitesse supporters not to mention those without a ticket of any sort who will be in the city centre.

The tickets are not for "anyone", as I understand it you still have to meet the criterion of having bought seven or more away tickets through the club.I think it's unfair to use away tix as the tie breaker as it is the home commitment of 19 matches which is the greater , financially and otherwise. I think a ballot of season ticket holders would be fairer. Not everyone has the time/money to travlelto every away game.
