Saints Need To Up Offer For Van Dijk
Monday, 31st Aug 2015 11:35

Saints need to up their offer a little if they are to secure the services of Virgil Van Dijkbefore the transfer window closes tomorrow.

Sky Sports and indeed most media sources seem to agree that Virgil Van Dijk to Southampton is a done deal apart from one thing and that is the two clubs agreeing a fee.

The Glasgow club have already signed Van Dijk's replacement so its only a little bit of haggling to be concluded before Celtic will agree the transfer.

It seems that Saints have made an offer of around £10 million but Celtic want closer to £12 million to let the Dutch central defender go.

The good news is that the two clubs are not that far apart and a little bit of fine tweaking will probably see the deal done for somewhere between £11 - 11.5 million.

If we weren't in such need of another c/b I'd be getting really bored with this saga.I hope he's worth the risk of waiting till the 'eleventh hour' and that there are other good options just in case. .

I'm surprised VVD has taken to Twitter etc to claim his head is in Southampton or something similar to show his frustration at a lack of move to a bigger club. Surely that is how the modern footballer conducts himself these days. What is he thinking of?

Just offer the ten. What are they going to do? Keep him? They already have his replacement

Nah! that won't be the sticking point, it'll be about personal terms, guarantees and opt-out clauses.

If we have the money and Ron has stated that a CB is a must have before the transfer window, that why quibble over 1-1.5 mill? Celtic know they have us by the nuts on this one.
