Koeman Reminds Wanyama Of Schneiderlin A Year Ago
Monday, 31st Aug 2015 11:57

Just over a year ago Morgan Schneiderlin was demanding a move to White Hart Lane and was refused a transfer by Saints, a year on and he is probably very glad they did.

The average football fan will look at the situation that Morgan Schneiderlin is in now and where he could have been if he had jumped at the first offer he got from Tottenham Hotspur and consider that Saints did the Frenchman a big favour by digging their heels in and refusing to let him go.

So instead of being part of a very average Spurs side, after dusting himself down, behaving like a man and putting his usual 100% in for Saints for another season he got a far better move than to Spurs and is now at one of the biggest clubs in the World (It really pains me to say that) with a genuine chance of honours including a shot at the Champions League.

So bybehaving in a professional manner and helping Saints to their best league finish in 30 years Schneiderlin got his just rewards with his move to Old Trafford which apart from the footballing benefits will have seen him earn a lot more than at White Hart Lane.

Ronald Koeman realises this as well judging by his comments regarding Wanyama and whether Saints should sell him or indeed will sell him.

"Maybe it is good for Victor to talk to Morgan, because I think he is more happy now than he was last year even to do the move he wanted at that moment,"

"After losing again for this season some good players it was the same statement we did with Morgan last year. No change, nothing. We need that commitment from the players."

VW isn't as good as MS and will never play for one of the big four. If Spurs were willing to pay 20m in January I think we should jump at the offer.

With VW it's more about making a stand than anything else. I couldn't see Spurs forking out a lot of money anyway because they're pretty tight when it comes to actually putting their money where their mouth is.

It's disappointing that Vic, like so many other of our departees, has chosen to leave us when if it wasn't for our club he'd probably be largely unknown by anyone. The term unprofessional footballer would be more apt. As for his new song I think we should continue with it replacing "Mighty" with "Greedy" because let's face it that is exactly what it is.

I've no support for his disloyalty and alleged petulance. The lack of regulations offer the clubs little or no protection but that is how it is . So no excuses about the way he's done it, but what do you expect when the team around him has been dismantled, only a tiny percentage of transfer receipts has been spent, and we are paying wages below the Premier average?
Excellent performance by every player on Sunday, individually,as a team, and by the supporters, but that changes nothing about my views over the transfer policy and wanting to know the destiny of the massive transfer 'profits' and TV millions, cos it sure aint being spent on players !
Oh, and by the way, I support the club and the team, but not necessarily the accountants who are apparently in control.

Let's not forget that Morgan had his 5 min strop on Twitter and only backed down when it was clear that the club weren't going to let him go and there were no offers from big clubs anyway. He even had a couple of games missed where his head wasn't right. I suspect the same will be the case with Victor and come Wednesday morning Koeman will sit him down and say give me your best season and then let's look at it again next Summers.

Players have to learn that contracts actually mean something!! They are not just a piece of paper giving them X amount of thousands per week.

I think VW has a different mentality to MS. With MS, yes, he pouted for a bit but he seemed to have rolled up his sleeves and worked on his game for the season. I'm not sure the same will go for VW. He seems more immature. Time will tell.

corkcitysaint - the trouble is that they don't mean anything at the moment - they should do but they don't. I think you are right about VW's maturity.
