Ronald Koeman has given an update on the two medium term injured players Ryan Bertrand & Jordie Clasie.

Saints fans will be delighted to hear that both Ryan Bertrand & Jordie Clasie are a step forward to being back in training with the squad.

At this afternoon's press conference Ronald Koeman gave an update on both players.

“Jordy is recovering well, he’s not close to playing though and he will not be part of the team. (At West Brom)

“That’s the same for Ryan. He’s the closest to be back and I have good hope that he can start normal training from next Monday.”

Great news for Saints supporters, Matt Targett has done a good job deputising for Bertrand, especially for a player who had so little Premier League experience prior to this season, but Bertrand was arguably the best left back in the Premier League last season, certainly his peers thought so when he was voted into the PFA team of the year.

His pace has been missed not just in defence but also from an attacking point of view, his return to normal training on Monday though might not see him fit enough for a full return to League action and the visit of Manchester United might come a bit too soon, however perhaps Swansea City's visit a week later could see him back in League action for Saints.
