St Mary's To Step Up Security Checks
Tuesday, 17th Nov 2015 21:55

Saints along with all other Premier League clubs will receive a full security briefing ahead of the weekend, wit security at grounds being tightened.

In the wake of events in France next week Saints will be tightening up their security and will be getting advice from the relevant authorities on how to help keep St Mary's safe.

The new security guidance from the Premier League will be presented to clubs after the league have spoken to police, the Government and security advisers.

A Premier League statement said:

"We are actively engaged with our security advisers and the appropriate authorities, including the Home Office and senior representatives from the police, to assess current security guidance to Premier League clubs.

"There is a club meeting later this week where a full security briefing will be given. Following that, further guidance will be issued to the clubs as well as a public statement so fans are fully aware of what to expect when arriving at stadiums."

The briefings and heightened security will go a little way to allaying the fears of fans attending Premier League games this weekend and although it should be stressed that the chances of a game being targeted are remote, it is hard to see what more the clubs can do other than increase bag & body searches on entering the stadium.
