Jay Rodriguez May Need Surgery
Thursday, 19th Nov 2015 16:32

Saints are weighing up the options for the injury that has kept Jay Rodriguez out for the past month or so but it is looking increasingly like an operation may be the only way forward.

Saints have been very cagey about the injury that has kept Jay Rodriguez out of first team action since his appearance as a substitute in the 75 minute against Leicester City on 17th October, it is reported that he has a foot injury, but that is as far as the information has gone.

Now it appears that rest has not cured the problem and surgery might be the only remaining option, speaking at this afternoon's press conference Ronald Koeman said.

“Jay is not good, it’s now a long time and we have to make now a really tough decision how we have to do the treatment,” Koeman told Southampton’s official website.

“Maybe it will be a surgery next week. Still his feet is a problem, it gives a lot of pain. We did everything and now, the final call, maybe it will be surgery next week.”

Koeman added it was too early to put any timescale on when the forward may be available again.

"We have to wait and first make that tough decision and then of course we will know something more about how long he will be out,”

It has been a little stop start for Rodriguez so far as he has continued his recovery from the knee injury that kept him out for well over a year, the club seem keen to let the world know it is not a recurrence of this, but something different, either way it looks like J Rod may again be missing a chunk of this season.
