Saints Going Dutch For French Striker In January Wednesday, 23rd Dec 2015 13:11 Saints are heading to Holland in the January transfer window, but for once it isn't a native Netherlander they are after but a young French striker. Saints are believed to be after Utrecht's young French striker Sebastian Haller. although they may have competition from Sunderland and Norwich City. Haller joined Utrecht on loan from Auxerre last season and scored 11 goals in 17 games in the Eridivisie leading the Dutch club to make that loan permanent in the summer after he had been voted the Club's player of the year. This year he has been just as prolific, scoring 10 times in 15 games prompting interest from the Premier League. The 6ft 2 striker has been capped 12 times at U21 level for France scoring 7 times although he has yet to make an appearance for the full side. Ronald Koeman is believed to have run the rule over several options including Wolves Benik Afobe in a bid to sign a back up to Graziano Pelle who can step up to the plate immediately with the Italian striker not getting any younger. Haller fits the bill and ts believed that a bid of around £8 million would see Haller join Saints or for that matter any of the other suitors in the Premier League.
