Saints At Arsenal The Preview
Tuesday, 2nd Feb 2016 17:48

Saints head to North London with the number four looming large as they aim to make sure that they do not let Arsenal wreak revenge for their Boxing Day drubbing.

It's all the fours for Saints visit to the Emirates, they go there looking to win their Fourth Premier League game in a row in what is their fourth visit to The Emirates in the League, hoping its Fourth time lucky after 3 straight League defeats and of course finally Arsenal will be looking to avenge their four nil defeat at St Mary just over a month ago.

So what side will Ronald Koeman put out ?

The Dutch manager once again has a little thinking to do, he will surely stik with the same formation that has done so well in the past three games, but will he change the personnel as he has done in those games.

If Steven Davis is fit then he could return with perhaps Dusan Tadic being the player standing down to accommodate him.

There could be some who think that Charlie Austin should get a full debut, however I think that at the moment Austin is better used off the bench using the pace of Long and Mane in the first phases of the game to not only keep it tight be defending from the front, but tiring the Arsenal legs ready for Austin's arrival.

It is great though that Koeman has options and that he can keep Arsene Wenger guessing right up the exchange of team sheets and even during the game where he will also have plenty of options.

Whichever starting XI Koeman goes for he has strength on the bench now and a variety of players to hand should he need to chase the game late on or keep it tight and this could stand us in good stead not just now but in the final months of the season.

This will be a tough task, our Capital One Cup win there last season is our only win in nearly 30 years at either Highbury or the Emirates, it is not a happy hunting ground and there is a record of either heavy defeats or last minute goals against us.

Any positive result will be good, even a loss would not be the end of the World if it was narrow, however Saints are in confident mood and in this crazy season the form book has often been thrown out of the window as the Gunners found on Boxing Day.
