Jay Rodriguez Within Sight Of A Return
Saturday, 6th Feb 2016 09:02

It must have been a soul destroying period for Jay Rodriguez over the past four months to spend so much time out injured again so soon after his 18 month lay off, but a return is in sight.

Jay Rodriguez could be back in full training in the next 7 -10 days according to Ronald Koeman.

“He’s still working on an individual programme but I have good hope he will be part of the group in one week or ten days,”

" After that normally he would need at least one game in the under 21 side"

Good news for Jay - Rod who has fast become the forgotten man of St Mary's of late with his latest injury set back happening just as he was looking to get back to his best after a promising start to the season.

Although it will be hard for him to break back into the side with so many attacking options these days for Ronald Koeman, he will offer a great option and if he can get back to anything near his previous best for the club, now a distant two years ago, he will be a vital asset as Saints look to push on and try and better last season.

When (not if!) he is back to full fitness, he should come in to replace Mane who looks like he needs a break. I can see that being next seasons plan too, should someone offer us big money for Sadio.

Good point, although I think it will be at least 2-3 weeks before he is ready for a first team recall, by then Mane will again be being touted for Manchester United or a jibbering wreck
