Chelsea Game Sold Out But Ticket Exchange Now Open !
Saturday, 13th Feb 2016 10:59

All the tickets for the visit of Chelsea on 27th March have already sold out, but there is still a way that you may be able to get a ticket via the club's own ticket exchange.

With the game against Chelsea now sold out Saints fans still have a chance to buy tickets via the club's own ticket exchange system.

This enables season ticket holders to sell back their seat to the club for a credit to their account for next seasons season ticket and then the seat is re sold to supporters looking for tickets.

The system is not ideal in that rather than directing you to the available seats you have to scour the on line system to find where is available, also at the moment there are not many available with the system just opening after the last normal ticket was sold.

There are those that feel that systems like these that have been in force at other clubs for several years are nothing more than touting, in that technically a season ticket holder is not allowed to let someone else use their seat, so would be breaking regulations if they even gave the seat away let alone sold it to a mate.

This was the regulation that a few years ago saw Nicola Cortese block Matthew Le Tissier from loaning a season ticket he had paid for, to friends and family.

Its a regulation that is hard to enforce in that most supporters are anonymous whereas Le Tiss is a God and the most recognisable person in the entire City let alone St Mary's

But the club are happy to let a supporter do that if they can regulate it and my view is that it has to be a good thing, in that a season ticket holder will have to miss the odd one or two games from time to time, so if that seat is used and the season ticket holder receives some remuneration for that, it has to be a positive thing.
