Saints To Re Open Pelle Contract Negotiations Wednesday, 30th Mar 2016 21:16 Many Saints supporters had assumed that Graziano Pelle was on his way back to Italy this summer, but it seems that might be a trifle premature. The arrival of Charlie Austin along with the return from injury of Jay Rodriguez has meant that Saints could be a little top heavy with strikers, rumours suggest that Pelle was keen on a return to Italy to end his career and enjoy a long overdue spell of success in his homeland. Bu it seems that Saints are going to re open talks with Pelle at the end of the season. The Italian International apparently called off initial talks of a contract extension in January because he felt it was too early to discuss a new deal, but it is far from certain he will depart in the summer. The key could be if Saints qualify for Europe, if that is the case then they will feel that they need the extra experienced and proven firepower that keeping Pelle would bring and the player himself would also not be against staying and signing a new deal especially if European football was on offer. It is still up in the air and either party could change their mind, but at the moment it is perhaps 50/50 on whether Pelle signs a new deal and stays rather than the 70/30 on him departing of a few weeks ago.
