Saints Watching Moroccan Winger
Tuesday, 3rd May 2016 22:01

Saints are following the progress of Lille winger Sofiane Boufal , although so seemingly are most of Europe's big guns.

Sofiane Boufal looked set for a move from Lille in the January transfer window or at least according to his agent who spent the first half of the season claiming that his client was wanted by a number of European clubs.

Now Lille apparently want to cash in on the winger who cost only 3 million euros when he signed for the French club back in January 2015, but could now move for 6 times that after an impressive 18 months in Ligue 1.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a big fan, but the problem has been that of consistency and that could perhaps mean that Boufal will not be as coveted as his agent would like you to believe.

France Football magazine seem to think the player is motivated more by money claiming that his ideal move would be one that pays him five times what he earns at Lille and that would mean around 60 thousand euros a week.

That would not bother Klopp and Liverpool and would even be in the range of another alleged admirer Ronald Koeman and Saints who are about to see a similar wage for Gaston Ramirez finally drop off the books.

With Liverpool, Manchester City and Inter Milan being named in the media as being in the running to sign Boufal, Saints would be down the pecking order, although the advantage Ronald Koeman would have in any pursuit is that the Morroccan will almost certainly get more game time at St Mary's than those clubs mentioned.

Boufal made his debut for Morocco in March and is highly rated, however he is likely to be one of a large number of players Saints will look at in the coming weeks as they start to draw up their wish list for the summer.
