What A Great Season ! Now Make It Special !
Sunday, 15th May 2016 08:46

Despite turbulent times at the start of the season and a pre Xmas blip Saints have been magnificent in the New Year and pushed themselves right up the League, now they need to win one more game and hope that the luck is with us elsewhere.

Last summer there were once again many who went into meltdown about what the season would hold for Saints and the Victor Wanyama situation back in August fanned their flames, however Saints came through all of that and in the second half of the season both on and off the pitch showed that they have ambition.

Now it comes down to the final day and the team have to make sure that the party doesn't fall flat by dropping points to a Crystal Palace side who have a bigger game to think of.

Whatever the result though it has been a great season with some great highs and there can't be a Saints supporter with much to complain about.

Even if we lose we would still be 8th, but we want higher, the win that guarantees 7th and then perhaps the luck will go with us at either the Britannia Stadium or Old Trafford and we will get an automatic Europa League spot.

Each season we are making steady progress and building foundations and that is the way to do things in football. Qualifying to the Europa League is a natural step in that progression.

So lets see St Mary's rocking and Palace reeling and three points in the bag.

Remarkable that we're in with 'a shout' at fifth after the 'doom and gloom around Christmas. Top that with the early action over contracts and if the other key men come on board, this summer might actually be one to enjoy.
I don't know whether Les's early action is part of the 'planned progression' or a change of policy, but it can only be applauded.

Whatever happens today, we've had some great results -beating Arsenal, Man U, Man C, Liverpool, Totts, Chelsea all in the same season..

Totally agree Cork. Some amazing results this year against teams we never seem to beat.
We have made great progress. The next step is to be able to maintain form over a season. The very best teams don't have a two month dip in form. The odd game or two yes, but those two months killed us.
That's for tomorrow though. We have been excellent for most of the season and my favourite part is that when we go to places like Old Trafford and the Emirates I no longer dread getting hammered 6-0. We compete wherever we go and that is a huge change.
