Fenerbahce Boss Latest To Be Linked With St Mary's Job. Monday, 13th Jun 2016 11:31 Saints are being linked with Turkish club Fenerbahce's manager as the Ronald Koeman situation looks to come to a head this week. Saints are allegedly considering Fenerbahce's VÃtor Pereira to succeed Ronald Koeman should he decide to depart to Everton this week. Portugese born Pereira has been at the Istanbul club since last summer and appears to be a bit of a footballing nomad since 2010 when he joined Andre Villas Boas as his assistant at Porto. He took over at the Portugese club when AVB left for Chelsea in 2011, his first season saw him lift the Portugese title and he repeated the feat a year later, but was disillusioned with the game in his home country, he was ironically interviewed for the then vacant Everton managers job in May 2013 but eventually went to Saudi Arabia and then joined Greek club Olymiacos for the final half of the season, leading them to a title win and the Greek cup. Despite this he left the club by mutual consent in the summer of 2015 and joined Fenerbahce in Turkey where in the season just gone he led them to second place which has pretty much been the par score for the club in the last decade, finishing in runners up spot no less than six times in the last ten seasons and winning the league three times. Now he is being linked with Saints, for him is the fact that he is a young up and coming coach with a fair amount of experience, against him is the fact that he has had four clubs in five years since becoming Porto boss in 2011. He is a left field appointment, but then again so was Mauriccio Pochettino, although I suspect that Saints would much prefer to appoint a manager with a little more experience and perhaps a little more stability in their career with regards to time spent at a club.
