Claude Puel Jumps To Favourite
Monday, 20th Jun 2016 22:21

The bookies seem to have taken a few bob over the last few days as one candidate after another jumps to the top of the list, tonight it's Claude Puel.

Earlier today Manuel Pellegrini looked the odds on favourite , but suddenly Claude Puel has jumped over him, the Frenchman is starting to look a decent option after the last couple of days have seen Walter Zenga and Carvos Carvahal mooted for the job, not appointments that have exited the Saints fan base.

Skybet has Puel at 2/1 although other bookies have him as high as 5/1, Pellegrini is slightly longer at 11/2 with Skybet and it is starting to look like a straight race between the two unless there is a late surprise in store.

Puel has everything on his CV that Saints would require with the only thing against him being that he has never played or managed outside of France.

However Saints will feel that with the experience of Sammy Lee alongside him he will, like Ronald Koeman have a good man to help him adapt to the Premier League.

Still nothing from the bookies to suggest insider knowledge.

If Pellegrini is interested we should appoint him - we can always sack him if we come lower than 6th.

You would think there would be a long line of managers from middle to large clubs who would dream of this job: Premier League, good financial standing and sane owner.

If we want to climb higher on the table, we can't appoint a nobody, he won't attract the players we need.

whoever.. this does not look like saints had someone lined up. They have had 4 weeks to sound people out and decide. The loss of Koeman is yet another summer torpedo we have had to suffer. I only hope this one was not below the waterline..we had a really good thing going. A team that finishes strongly normally starts the next season strongly, but this has negated that.

Hmm considering our current position, I was hoping for someone a little ore high profile. I've never heard of the bloke. Then again I hadn't heard of Pochettino either so who knows!

This is certainly meandering along in typical Saints fashion. Poor old Pellegrini has been waiting outside Les's office since Saturday and I am now forgetting which one is which for some of the others. Garcia is now 'out of the running' but has parked himself arms folded as permanent fouth favourite and the rest just seem to be made up by the Sun. I will now re-Google Puel to remind myself who he is...
