Wanyama Confirms He Has Had Spurs Medical And Thanks Saints Fans Wednesday, 22nd Jun 2016 08:59 Victor Wanyama has confirmed that he has had a medical at Tottenham Hotspur, but it seems the final fee has yet to be agreed. Victor Wanyama's head, heart and wallet have been in White Hart Lane since last August when Spurs made a despicable attempt to force him out of St Mary's. Back then Saints resisted as the Kenyan still had two years on his contract, but realistically it was only going to be a stay of execution till this summer. Publicly Saints stated that they were offering him a new deal, but behind the scenes Wanyama was not interested and had his heart set on moving to North London. The question that Spurs fans are asking though is what is Wanyama's true form, for Saints last year it was patchy, whilst no one can deny that on his day Wanyama is top notch, the truth is that last season some days he looked his old self, yet on others he looked a powder keg, his three sendings off being totally unnecessary, leading some Saints fans to ponder whether he had deliberately got himself sent off and that he was not that bothered about Saints You would hope that the truth was that he merely mistimed those tackles, but that doesn't bode well for Spurs, in fact either scenario is not ideal. Wanyama has seemed keen to rejoin Pochettino, crediting him for helping him develop, however is that really the case ? he spent one year under the Argentinian and in truth did not completely convince Saints supporters in that season, many feeling that Jack Cork was a better option. Indeed it was only in Ronald Koeman's first season he truly showed top quality form, so there is mileage in the theory that Koeman is the man he should credit rather than Pochettino, after all there weren't many after him two summers ago. Reports in the media suggest that Saints and Spurs are yet to agree a fee, Saints understandably want to recoup at least the £12 million they paid for Wanyama three years ago, but with little other interest in the Kenyan other than Spurs they are finding it difficult to push the price up. Spurs of course want to keep the cost down so are offering a shade under that, they seem to be trying to make a point after our refusal last summer to sell Wanyama to them. However the player himself seems to have already had his medical Speaking to soka25east.com Wanyama said. "I am indeed elated at passing my medical at Tottenham, it is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team," "I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together, I will always have a fond place for them in my heart."
