Bosnian football fan Aldin Karabeg needed a team to support and went to some effort to try and work out who to choose, Saints were one of only ten teams who replied, but who did he chose >

Southampton FC were one of only ten clubs who replied to Aldine Karabeg when he wrote to all 92 league clubs asking why he should support them.

Surprisingly of the ten who could be bothered replying, seven of them were from the Premier League, perhaps putting paid to the idea that those in the top flight have lost touch with their supporters.

Saints reply was as follows.

I would recommend looking into each Team as an organisation, learning their values and mindset. Hopefully you will find that a particular Team will resonate with you, and your support moving forward will be genuine and heartfelt.

A little bit impersonal perhaps, but at least the club did bother to reply which is better than 82 other clubs, in fairness Saints were probably about mid table in terms of the content of their reply.

So who did Karabeg chose, is he now a Saints fan ?

The answer is no ! originally he was looking at Barnet as being his ideal match,
Aldinsaid, "I still wouldn't say that I chose a certain club, but Barnet's response impressed me the most."

"I'll probably reply to them back. They mentioned my country and all, and looked like they definitely read the e-mail

That was until he received a personal reply from Everton's Bosnian midfielder Mo Basic.

So just as Ronald Koeman showed that every Manager has his price, Aldine Karabeg showed that every fan also has his and he is now a confirmed Everton supporter.
