Virgin Media Launch Fan Initiatives !
Thursday, 28th Jul 2016 21:09

Virgin Media are moving forward with their promise of being more than just a shirt sponsor with the announcement of more initiatives for Saints supporters.

Virgin Media have already made a good start to their promise of being more than just a shirt sponsor by underwriting the cost of tickets for the two St Mary's home friendlies and then subsidising not just the price of tickets for the trip to Manchester United but also laying on free coaches to the game.

Now they announced that there are more fan initiatives in the pipeline including.

Subsidised match tickets for one further Premier League away game during the 2016-2017 season.

A discounted ticket bundle for supporters, giving them guaranteed access to all three home matches in the UEFA Europa League group stages

Creating a dedicated Virgin Media Fan Hub at St Mary’s Stadium

Discounts on Virgin Media products and services for Season Ticket holders.

Whilst of course there are some supporters who will be cynical and claim this is all only part of a marketing campaign from Virgin, the fact is although yes in part they are right, anything that benefits Saints supporters has to be an improvement on our lot from the club at any time in it's history.

Perhaps the most interesting is that of the fan hub which will be situated in and around the Dell Sports Bar in the Kingsland Stand, space here is quite limited due to the close proximity of the railway line behind the stand, but it would be good to see an area such as those at other clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City where there are activities for both kids and adults and bars where you can have a little bit more of an atmosphere than you get inside the stadium concourse.

Again this is good news for Saints fans and as I said, anything that improves things for supporters either financially or in the attendance of games in general has to be of benefit.

Speaking as a VM customer - perhaps they could make TV Anywhere work properly so you can watch BT matches on it - and maybe even call a halt to the enormous price increases over the past couple of years...just a thought.
