Rodriguez Could Return Against Former Club
Tuesday, 11th Oct 2016 21:06

Jay Rodriguez is on target to make his latest comeback when Saints take on his former club Burnley on Sunday afternoon.

Jay Rodriguez has given Saints a boost ahead of the game against the club Saints signed him from Burnley on Sunday.

With doubts over Shane Long after he limped out of the Republic of Ireland's win on Sunday evening, J Rod's return to full training will be a welcome sight to Claude Puel.

Rodriguez looked to be heading for the World Cup in Brazil and was near the top of the Premier League scoring charts back in April 2014 when he suffered cruciate ligament damage at Manchester City.

Since then he has had appalling luck with injury culminating with his latest setback when he injured his groin a month ago just as he looked to be hitting goal scoring form again.

Now he is ready and raring to go again and will hope to play some part against Burnley at St Mary's and prove his fitness ahead of a crucial run of games in the next few weeks which could see Saints heading towards the second half of the season with a lot to play for not just in the Premier league but the League cup and Europa League.
