More Fixture Disruption
Friday, 14th Oct 2016 13:45

Saints are to have at least three more games changed from their original date due to being selected for TV.

Sky have selected another three of our games for live television, the first is the trip to Bournemouth which has now been moved back a day and will take place on Sunday 18th December with a 1.45pm kick off.

Then our Boxing Day game against Tottenham Hotspur see's a second festive year running change, luckily it won't be an evening game on Boxing Day, but is now a 7.45pm kick off two days later on Wednesday 28th December, at least Saints supporters will be able to spend some time at home this year.

The final change so far comes with the visit of champions Leicester City to St Mary's, this will now be played on Monday 23rd January, at 8pm GMT.

However, if Saints remain in the EFL Cup at that stage, the visit of the current Premier League Champions will instead be played on Sunday 22nd January, at midday.

There do not seem to be any other matches selected for BT Sport in their latest announcement of televised fixtures so hopefully we can now safely put things in our diaries till the end of January.

With reference to an earlier thread, this is my main reason for not attending many games or unlikely to attend many games this season. The proliferation of matches rescheduled for Sunday with the distance I am and work the following day and my son who plays on a Sunday afternoon. It means that regrettably that attending a Saints game is less of a priority.

I do miss Saturday football though and setting aside a Saturday afternoon to meet up with your friends and family, have a drink/lunch and then walk to the game and then have a drink afterwards. I guess that is largely a thing of the past now and shows my age.
