Saints Have The Semi In Their Sights Thursday, 27th Oct 2016 10:18 It's a tough draw in the quarter finals of the League Cup, but Saints now have a great chance of a semi final spot. Of course Saints would have preferred a number of other options in the draw than a trip to Arsenal, but the reality is after being robbed at the Emirates a couple of months ago we should have no fears of going there and repeating our victory in the same competition a couple of years ago. If we do then we have a great chance of Wembley, this round saw Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester City go out and if Saints can beat the Gunners then they have every chance of overcoming any of the other teams who are likely to be in the last four. Indeed as it stands Saints gor into the round fourth favourites to win the trophy and that could improve of they beat Arsenal and Leeds or West Ham spring a shock. However it will be a dilemma for Claude Puel in a months time, he will clearly need to put out a side that is stronger than the one he named against Sunderland last night, he needs to be see his side take maximum points in the next two Europa League games to guaranteed qualification from the group stages, that would enable him to prioritise the League Cup over the home game against Happoel Be'er Sheva. Arsenal will probably put out a weakened side themselves, this is one game I want to see us near full strength for. But I would rather talk about things like this than relegation, we go into a crucial month of games, one that could see us not only in the next round of the Europa League but also in the semi finals of the League Cup.
