Saints Scouting In Portugal Over The Weekend Monday, 16th Jan 2017 10:21 Saints had a scout at the Benfica V Boavista fixture on Saturday, but who was the target of the report winging it's way back to St Mary's. There are possibly two players who might interest Saints before the transfer window is closed. The first is Rafa Silva who Saints have been linked with before when he was with Braga before joining Benfica in a 16 million euros move, however it is unlikely that he will leave the Stadium Of Light after so short a period of time. More likely the player being watched was Goncalo Guedes who would fit the bill of the type of striker that Claude Puel would want in his squad, ie a nippy forward in the Raheem Sterling/ Daniel Sturridge mode who is able to interchange in the front three during games. Guedes is not a prolific scorer for Benfica but has the knack of creating chances for others and despite only turning 20 back in November has already featured in the full Portugese side. Although he is contracted to the Lisbon side till 2021, e is valued at around £8 million currently although in a January transfer window this would more likely need to rise to £10 million to secure his services.
