Saints Striker To Make Loan Move Friday, 20th Jan 2017 08:44 Saints are trimming their squad not only at the back but up front as they loan out a striker to give him game time. Cheltenham Town are likely to take Saints youngster Olufela Olomola on loan for the rest of the season according to the local paper in the Gloucesterhire town. Saints have high hopes for Olomola who joined the club at 16 in 2014 when he decided against joining the Arsenal academy and signed on at St Mary's instead. Excitement was high back in October when he was named in the squad for the League Cup tie against Sunderland and then came on in the 26th minute to replace the injured Jay Rodirguez with fans hoping for another exciting debut. They were to be disappointed though, although Olomola had pace and undoubted talent he was lacking in a little bit of guile and knowing when to make runs etc, some players have this instinctively whilst with other it needs a little coaching and with Olomola it looked like it was the latter. The natural step now for the 19 year old is to play in a competitive environment and this is why the move to the League Two club looks to be a good idea. Cheltenham are struggling though and sit only 1 point above the drop zone in League Two, if Olomola joins it could give him the opportunity to make himself a Saints hero, the final game of the season for Cheltenham is at Portsmouth and what an irony it would be if he was to score the goal that prevented Pompey from promotion.
