Pokemrivalry Go Set To Launch In Southampton On Saturday !
Thursday, 30th Mar 2017 11:24 by The Archbishop Of Banterbury

Last year the big craze to hit the streets was Pokemon Go, on Saturday Pokemrivalry go is launched in Southampton with 3,200 set to arrive in the city looking to find something that doesn't exist.

July 2016 saw Pokemon Go launched worldwide, the craze saw millions across the globe out on the streets using their mobile phones to find virtual Pokemon embossed in real world situations.

Back then you could barely walk anywhere without seeing fans of the craze standing around trying to find something that didn't really exist.

Now Southampton is set to host the launch of what is set to be the latest craze, Pokemrivalry Go !

Very similar (and if their lawyers are watching, totally unconnected to) Pokemon Go, Pokemrivalry Go will see hordes of Bournemouth fans arrive in Southampton and using their mobile phones try to get a picture of a Southampton fan who actually considers them local rivals.

Like the virtual reality Pokemon, the company behind Pokemrivalry Go have placed virtual reality Pokemrivals at strategic locations thus enabling them to find something that doesn't exist and tell their friends all about it.

Already Bournemouth supporters are charging their mobiles in readiness for the launch and looking forward to comparing notes with fellow players on the train home and telling tales of how much Scumming they did.

A few years ago this game would have gone the way of many other mobile apps, in truth there would not have been a market, but the sudden spurt of Bournemouth fans appearing in the last half dozen years or so has created a demand previously not seen in Bournemouth, one where they like to enjoy the trappings of a big football club but dont have the infrastructure.

That means new bigger stands have to be built, traditions have to be manufactured and as we know the modern football fan cannot function unless he has a rival who he can banter with.

This has culminated in PokemRivalry Go which if successful in Dorset will be launched in similar hotbeds of new age soccer like Hull, Stevenage, Crawley, Wycombe and a host of other areas where the supporters of the clubs have no focus for their ridicule and banter, after all what is the point of supporting a football club if you can't slag off your rivals for having shite sleeves of tattoos.

In reality the game is absolutely pointless, it goes on ad infinitum and is based on a traditional village green pastime started in the Portsmouth area in the 1970's

Back then Pompey had more Morris dancing clubs than the rest of England put together, but in the winter months with nothing better to do than stand around in an empty stadium, the 7,000 strong registered Morris dancers in Pompey needed something to keep their minds occupied on a Saturday afternoon so the game "Scumming" was invented.

A simple game it involved the participants shouting "Scummer" at anyone or anything that had some sort of Southampton connection, with the aim to prove to other participants that you hated Southampton so much, you had had a sore throat by way of doing your scumming that much louder and much more often than anyone else.

Sadly this sort of thing never really caught on with Bournemouth fans, with the demise of Weymouth as a footballing force back in the 1980's it left them without any real rivals to speak of, for a time Yeovil filled a gap, but it was a very half hearted affair.

However in recent years the demand for a local rival that Cherries fans could hate and who would hate them back has intensified and they have looked across the New Forest to try and create some sort of rivalry.

This has now culminated with the phone app Pokemrivalry Go and bemused Southampton shoppers are likely to see groups of Bournemouth fans standing around trying to use their mobile phones to find Saints supporters who give a damn, hence the need to capture virtual Pokemrivals.

Already 3,200 apps have been downloaded and are set to go live on Saturday at midday, the app has gained rave reviews in some areas but does have it's detractors as evidenced by the quotes we obtained below.

Bournemouth Bugle- Pokemrivalry Go will revolutionise supporting Bournemouth and finally give Cherries fans a chance to pretend that someone cares !

Dr Livingstone (Explorer) - It took me six years to find the source of the river Nile, I fear Bournemouth supporters face a far more difficult task than I.

Fox Mulder (X Files) Bournemouth fans should take heart that one is out there somewhere, but I feel they would be better going to Area 51 than St Mary's on Saturday to find him.

Hampshire Constabulary - We take a dim view of football fans standing on street corners.

John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood. - Southampton ? Are you a scummer ? Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummmmmmmmmmmmmmerrrrrrrrrr !!!!! (pause for breath)

Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummer ! Scummmmmmmmmmmmmmerrrrrrrrrr !!!!!

Ted MacDougall - I like this club but I also like this club, im confused im off to Lidl.

Dean C Ourt ( Bournemouth Fan) I hate them they are scummers, we are their only rivals now, we hate them and they hate us !

Barry R Gate ( Saints Fan) Bournemouth ? Oh yes Bournemouth good to see them doing well, they will get good crowds this year if its sunny and they keep deckchair hire prices at 2016 levels.

The Bloke Off Of Soccer Am - Ha Ha Ha Ha, top bantz, it will be like the archbishop of banterbury X 32,000 on Saturday, Nutz Ha Ha Ha Ha

I do not feel any need to understand the appeal or even language of this i-Phone app but each to their own if it make them feel 'hip' and 'on trend'. As long as the daft buggers don't walk straight into me on the way to the match tomorrow evening!
