Crystal Palace believe Pellegrino is off to Saints.
Thursday, 22nd Jun 2017 14:26

Crystal Palace seem to believe Mauricio Pellegrino is off to Saints with news filtering through that they have offered their vacant managers job to Frank De Boer says Arron Sanders.

Crystal Palace have offered Frank De Boer the manager’s job at Selhurst Park according to media sources.

Argentine Mauricio Pellegrino had also been linked with the Eagles position, but Palace officials believe he is heading to Southampton to replace Claude Puel, having impressed during his interview.

This would be a major hurdle cleared in getting their preferred candidate, with the only opposition seemingly admitting defeat an appointing the alternative candidate.

It should also enable the club to move quickly in wrapping up the appointment with an announcement possibly as soon as the end of this week.

Finally the club will now be able to turn their heads towards player recruitment with the managerial search coming to a close.

Who would you like to see Saints sign this summer and what should Mauricio Pellegrino's prioritise be if appointed as manager?

Keep VVD for another season, Sell Fraser Forster and by Joe Hart, Keep JRod.

Buy Ben Gibson now that Harry Maguire has been snapped up by Leicester. Steal Defoe from under Bournemouth's nose, Chicarito, Sigurdson, maybe Michael Keane to partner VVD.

Surely the first press conference will be enough to judge him. He will need a well rehearesed sketch with no hesitation, No errrrrs. no aaaaaahs and to have learnt the Southampton way of saying 'butter'. Fresh jokes are a must and a funny costume that will satisfy those fans craving for entertainment. Can he do a song and dance act or play the triangle?
On a more serious note will he be outspoken about the Falklands or will he call them by some silly name?
As yet he is not our manager but if he should join us then I pray he will be at least as successful as Puel ( more negative ticks I fear)

Why would we want to sell or get rid of Forster? He is a superb keeper. We need to keep hold of Virgil. Hoping the Fox in the Box can work his wonder for us. Puel had it hard with so many games, injured players and still finished just below the Big Guns. We should do better this coming season, just like Everton did last season to the season before where they were in Europe. :)
