The draw will take place on Thursday evening and will be made at the Stadium Of Light just before the game between Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday and will be televised live on Sky Sports, there will be a Saints connection with David Prutton presenting.

13 Premier League clubs are included in the draw with the top six plus Burnley not having to join the fray till the next round due to European commitments.

The draw is not seeded but will be regionalised into North & South and for the first time there will be no extra time in any of the rounds the 2nd round games will be played week commencing Monday 27th August

The name every Saints fan will be looking at is Portsmouth who meet AFC Wimbledon at Fratton Park this evening and look likely to go through, this competition probably offers Saints the best chance of glory as it did two years ago when we reached the final and is a great route into Europe.
