Saints Announce Partnership With AFC Totton
Tuesday, 14th Aug 2018 21:27

Saints will partner with local non league club AFC Totton going forward in a move that will benefit both clubs in differing ways.

AFC Totton’s Testwood Stadium will host the home fixtures of the Southampton FC Women’s team from the 18/19 season who will be competing in the South Region Women’s Football League — Premier Division, as well as a number of Saints Academy fixtures throughout the season.

Martina Heath (SFC General Manager for the Girls & Women’s Programme) commented, “We’re delighted to be working with AFC Totton who have shown a strong desire and flexibility to accommodate our increased fixture programme. It was important to find a permanent home for the Women’s team that is within the club’s catchment, and accessible for Saints fans to show their support throughout the season. Testwood Stadium ticks all the boxes and we’re delighted to be working with Wayne Mew and his team in the years to come.”

Beyond the fixture programme the partnership will extend across a number of different areas from sharing expertise and good practice to investing in the stadium pitch maintenance programme. Additionally, Saints Foundation, the club’s charity will explore collaborative opportunities to work together for the benefit of the wider community.

AFC Totton Chairman Wayne Mew commented; ‘’AFC Totton are delighted to have been chosen as the partners to work with Southampton Football Club over the coming years.

We look to welcoming Southampton FC Women and the SFC Academy teams to the Testwood stadium. This partnership is huge for AFC Totton and we look forward to working with the club on all areas to expand our current programme. These are exciting times for AFC Totton.’’

For those Saints fans who havent been to Testwood Stadium its is a nice compact modern football ground with terracing on all four sides as well as seated stands on both sides, meaning that spectators can get a good elevated view of the pitch.

Hopefully it will benefit AFCT by bringing much needed revenue and an increased awareness of the club and perhaps attract more fans to it when Saints are not playing and they are at home.

Totton are my local team. I am a Saints season ticket holder so I watch them when Saints are away.
