Greek Club Interested In Saints High Earner ! Thursday, 16th May 2019 11:53 With Saints looking to not only raise funds for transfer fees by the sale of those not in their plans going forward but also to reduce the wage bill, their is some good news on the rumour mill this week. Greek club Olympiacos are reportably tracking Saints striker Guido Carrillo ahead of the summer transfer window which could be good news for both player and Saints themselves. The Athens club are said to be looking towards the Spanish League and with Carrillo currently on loan at Leganes he is said to be one of the players on their radar according to reports in the Greek media who also claim that initial contact has been made to enquire as to the player availability and the cost. The attacker has made 31 La Liga appearances in this campaign, scoring six goals and is under contract at St. Mary’s until June 2021. Carrillo didn't get much of a chance at St Mary's, he was seen very much as a Mauricio Pellegrino signing and with the manager being sacked weeks later managed only 7 games for Saints in the Premier League totalling 451 minutes plus another 3 appearances in the FA Cup. Although much maligned in some quarters he played a part in Saints survival, somehow getting on the end of a porr Josh Sims cross in the final minute away at Burnley and knocking the ball back for Manolo Gabbiadini to score a vital equaliser, a point that ultimately helped us come the final run in. There are some who think that he might get the chance to prove himself to Ralph Hasenhuttl before any deccision is made and certainly it should be noted that he came into a team playing badly and in the 7 games he played he was no worse than most of those playing alongside him. But although he should not be written off just yet, I would imagine that a decent offer from Olympiacos around the mark of his current market value of £10 million, although well short of the money we paid might be enough to tempt us and get some money for the transfer kitty as well as freeing up a fairly substantial wage.
