Djenepo Still Not Fit
Thursday, 17th Oct 2019 15:12

Saints will still be without Moussa Djenepo and Cédric for this weekend’s Premier League trip to Wolves, manager Ralph Hasenhüttl has confirmed.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has given updates on his injury list ahead of the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Commenting on the Djenepo's progress, the manager said:

“Moussa has made developments and his recovery is okay, but he’s still not 100%.

“He’s on the pitch and can do a lot of things, but not everything. We are trying to rise the intensity of the sessions, but it will take time.

“Today (Friday) he has a scan again and then we will know a little bit more."

" At the moment I am thinking of the week of the Manchester City games, that is the hope I have"

Also still out is Cedric Soares and the manager commented.

“He maybe a little bit quicker, but his calf injury takes time to heal and at the moment it’s not as quick as we thought.

“Also for him, it’s not most important that he’s back as quick as possible but the most important thing is for it not to happen again.”

Following the international break, six Saints have resumed training after reporting back to Staplewood uninjured.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Maya Yoshida, Jan Bednarek, Kevin Danso, Stuart Armstrong and Michael Obafemi all featured for their respective countries but will now prepare for Saturday’s trip to Molineux.

"They’re all back fit. Not everybody played every 90 minutes, but it’s good that they're back fit with no injuries," Hasenhüttl confirmed.

It is disappointing that neither Djenepo or Cedric are likely to return, although given Ralph's tendency to try and surprise the opposition I wouldn't completely rule it out, the fact is we can cover their loss and in this respect it was more important that we didn't pick up any more injuries from those on International duty.
