Well that was hardly convincing. A game we should have handled easily after 2-0The last 10 minutes made us look like a Championship side. I think that this game should why Aribo and Mara hardly play. Well onto NewCastle mid-week.

Making so many changes was always going to need a period of adjustment. Played well in short bursts. You have to wonder why Perraud isn't starting. Good to see ABK getting some time back and Lavia playing almost a full 90 minutes. At least it gave a lot of regulars a rest.

Still dont understand why, like today, we usually go to pieces if we have a lead to defend,we seem unable to stay calm and keep control of the ball and manage the game time. Cooler heads are needed. Strangely we did this really well against Man City.

Pwew......
On to the next one.
Most positive: on to round 5 of the FA Cup and......5th victory for Nathan Jones (NJ) in 10 matches. 5 defeats, zero draws.

NJ might be an ok choice to bring us out of our Premier League mess?

It looks like he is close to having found his best 11 and his next best 11

+ his formation(s) look ok.

Alcaraz a really good signing + I have faith in the fact that Orsic will come good.
Hope there is still time to sign a decent striker.

Well NJ did say he wanted players who can play multiple positions. Clearly Peraud has Left Back and Centre Forward nailed down.

Not a great performance but with so many changes it was good to scrape through. We were so comfortable at 2-0 but we're awful at closing the game down and it was a very nervy last 15 minutes. Still main thing is we're in the next round and no obvious injuries and players rested for the next two games.

Hardly convincing, but we are through. Strangely left Tuesday night after the Newcastle game with more hope than today’s performance. ANM waste of time no effort and barely breaks into a run, just because we are paying him a percentage of his wages doesn’t mean he has to give us a percentage of his effort. Why didn’t we play Ballard or JJ and then give Walcott a-game, strange at times this club. Edozie was a positive as was Lyanco and Perraud.

Just a quick couple of points, firstly this was very much a second team for Saints, so you can't really use it as a barometer for the rest of the season, there will be wholesale changes for the trip to Newcastle and indeed Brentford.

Secondly with regard to loan signings, the club will not be paying Ainsley Maitland Niles directly, he still receives his full wages from Arsenal, the deal is between the two clubs.

Not bad for a left back that's not good going forward!
Why did we bring on Walcott at 2-0 when at that time we could have given Ballard a run?
Surely he's not thinking of playing Walcott on Tuesday, I can't get my train fare back now😂😂😂

The languidness of Maitland-Niles is off the scale, I mean maybe he cares passionately about SFC, but it sure doesn't show.
