Journalist Claims That Charly Alcatraz Will Stay At St Mary's
Tuesday, 30th May 2023 20:44

The rumour mill of who will stay and who will go from St Mary's in the next couple of months is starting to turn, but there is some good news for Southampton fans if one journalist can be believed.

Talk Sports Alex Crook usually doesn't need much encouragement to stir things up for Southampton, having run a media agency in Portsmouth, his colours are usually nailed to the mast when he talks about Saints.

But today he has claimed that one rising star in the Southampton squad will be staying put, speaking to football media outlet GIVEMESPORT he claimed.

"Joe Aribo I think will probably be alright in the Championship, he's not been good enough in the Premier League. The one who looks like he'll stay actually, I think maybe it's just because he enjoys the lifestyle and loves the club, is Alcaraz. He will be a good one to keep hold of in the Championship."

GIVEMESPORT themselves feel that Saints have some good foundations to build on, they point to the fact that Alcaraz in just 13 starts for the Saints, scored four times and provided two assists in the Premier League.

He also averaged 0.35 goals every 90 minutes, the highest in the Southampton squad and if what is being said is true, it is very good news for Saints fans.

This would be good news if we can keep him. I fear that a team in one of the other top leagues such as Spain or Italy will come calling and offer $15M for him and Saints will jump on it. Only time will tell, but I think he could be key for us trying to get back to the Prem.

If true, this is fantastic news. So far our best purchase in the January window. It will be a great kick start for our Championship campaign next season. He will thrive in the extra space he's going to get next year. A midfield set up of of Sulemana, Smallbone, Alcaraz and.....Lavia? Fingers crossed.
