Burnley are said to be still sniffing around Nathan Tella, but it seems they have competition from Germany, with Bayer Leverkusen said to be interested in signing the 24 year old who blossomed last year at Turf Moor.

Burnley expressed an interest in bringing back Nathan Tella to Turf moor on a permanent basis, however they did not express an interest in paying anything like the value of a player who scored 17 times for them last season and helped them to promotion.

Now it seems they have competition for his signature from the continent, with getfootballnewsgermany.com reporting that German media outlet kicker are looking at Tella as an addition to their attacking options.

They say that Southampton will be looking for somewhere between £15 -20 million if they are going to sell, a price that Burnley were only willing to pay half of that value.

The Lancashire club might start to get real now the reality of the Premier League is hitting home, so Nathan Tella still being at St Mary's come September is not a done deal.

Saints however might well see £17 million plus as good business, as it stands at the moment, they have plenty of wide options and indeed several striking options, they might consider that letting Tella go and buying in someone like Joel Pirou would be an upgrade on a player who did well at Turf Moor, but has yet to take off at St Mary's.

We've never seen Tella get a run in the side so it would be difficult to judge him on that, however judge him on last season and that should be enough to keep him? Anyway we need to get some big earners, that will probably not feature, off the books before players that almost certainly will! COYR

SaintPaulVW added 11:06 - Aug 15 He's played well for us so far this season. Unless Tella or his reps are pushing for a move/better deal not too sure why we would want to move him on now. I guess it's straight 'moneyball,' - you sell once the fee offered exceeds his calculated value to the team.
