Swansea And Plymouth Ticket's Available Via Club's Ticket Exchange
Monday, 25th Dec 2023 09:30

The bad news for those Saints fans who haven't bought a ticket for either of the two games at St Mary's this week is the game is sold out, the good news though is that you can still buy tickets via the club's ticket exchange.

Southampton like many other club's operate a ticket exchange, in simple terms once a game is sold out, season ticket holders who are unable to attend the game can put their tickets up for resale.

There is no guarantee that they will be sold, but if they are the season ticket holder receives a credit to their account.

It's a good system in that it benefits all parties, from the club's perspective although it is not really a profit making exercise, it fills a seat that might otherwise be empty, from the season ticket holders viewpoint it means that they are not penalised financially if they are unable to attend and from the general fans view it means that they may be able to get a ticket at late notice.

However Southampton FC do not publicise this enough and their ticket system is awful making it difficult to navigate and find out if tickets are available or not, there is contradictory information on the site, yes there is a news story saying the ticket exchange is open, but there are also stories saying the game is sold out, in short a very complicated system is made worse by layers of pages you need to go through to actually find out tickets are available.

If you are reading this and want to buy a ticket you can do so via this Southampton FC Ticket Link where you will find around 300 season ticket holders across all areas hoping someone will buy their seat.

Firstly Nick, seasons greetings and best wishes.

You have highlighted the Swansea and Plymouth ticket situation I suspect having seen my post days ago on the Forum section detailing the problem.

My previous experience of the system is that the club don’t refund the whole ticket cost, from memory retaining £5 or so for “ administration”. They then resale the ticket and charge a booking fee of £1.50, so they benefit to the tune of £6.50 per ticket resold.

500 tickets sold provides the club with an additional sum of £3250, hardly a fortune but better than a poke in the eye with a short stick. Not forgetting of course extra income by way of food sales and visits to the club shop by those who buy the tickets.

Given the above, why on earth do the club not properly advertise the system and equally importantly operate a website which makes purchase easy ?
