Simon Says Charity Take On Saints Legends At AFC Totton On Saturday Monday, 20th May 2024 11:45 What better way to warm up for the big event at Wembley Stadium against Leeds United, than by watching a few of Southampton Football Club's ex legends take on a a team representing one of our worthy local charities. Simon Says is a local charity whose aim is to support children who have suffered the loss of a relative or close friend or indeed are struggling to cope with the situation of a terminally ill relative or close friend. They aim to help children and young people understand what has happened or is happening and help them to rebuild their lives. Their mission statement says it all "Our mission is to provide support for children and young people up to the age of 18, living in the county of Hampshire, who have a significant person in their life who has died or is dying." Saturday sees a Charity Fun day at AFC Totton football ground, with the highlight being a football match between a Simon Says team and the Saints legends team kicking off at 1pm. Among those pulling on the red and white stripes at the weekend just gone at Cowes on the Isle Of Wight were Rickie Lambert, Shane Long, James Beattie, Matt Oakley, Jo Tessem, Andrew Surman, David Hughes, Nicky Banger, Brian Howard and goalkeeper Maik Taylor and although the line up has yet to be confirmed for the game at the Snows Stadium at Totton, it is sure to include a few favourites from the past. Tickets are just £5 with children under 16 being free, this is more than just the game though, it is a day out for all the family, there will be things for the kids to do, a bouncy castle and slide, various stalls, face painting and crafts, food and a bar. With the day starting at 10 am and the game itself kicking off at 1pm, it will give everyone plenty of time to enjoy themselves and after the game perhaps enjoy meeting the Ex Saints legends in the bar whilst watching the cup final.
