Junction 41 M4 09:51 - Apr 21 with 1572 views | YrAlarch | Forgive me if this topic has been raised on the Forum before but I am a newcomer. Anyway... It seems that the Welsh Government, in particular Edwina Hart, are going ahead with their plan to close this junction as a temporary (yeah yeah) measure to assess its effectiveness. That without any regard for the economy of Port Talbot , the livelihood of its employers and employees, or the convenience of its residents and visitors. I would bet a month's pension on the fact that if a referendum were to be held amongst the population of the town, the majority would vote against its closure. However our views are being ignored for the sake of avoiding some congestion during specific times on weekdays with perhaps a little more on Friday afternoons. All for the benefit of those travelling beyond the town in either direction. Incidentally, where does Edwina Hart live?
Junction 41 M4 on 09:56 - Apr 21 with 1562 views | Darran | The only people that go to Port Toilet are the residents of places like Baglan,Cwmavon,Margam and Sandfields. Closing that junction won't make any difference at all.

Absolutely there's two main roads into Port Toilet.

Junction 41 M4 on 16:12 - Apr 21 with 1289 views | reddythered | Problem with the M4 in Wales is there are far too many junctions too close to gether, especially noticeable juntion 40 to 46 and beyond. You then get the additional traffic hassles of people hopping on the one junction to get off the next.

Why is getting on at one and off at the next a problem? Roads are built for traffic, irrespective of which junctions people use. Three lanes on a motorway is inadequate for this country let alone the bottle neck of two lanes at Port Talbot. Closing a junction is not going to make any difference there IMO, it's the junction that comes onto the motorway from Port Talbot town centre heading West thats the problem, and it's the drivers that make it a problem, for whatever reason, they come up that slip road and f*cking stop as soon as it meets the motorway, rather than use the full length of the feed in lane. They should mount a machine gun there and any c*nt that stops or tries pushing in right at the beginning gets blasted. They closed the road outside Blanco's a couple of years ago, that was a massive success as well. When you become a planner they must remove your rational thinking part of your swede.

The masses will always vote labour in this area, because it's what their fathers, and their father before them done. Easier that way innit.

Junction 41 M4 on 19:36 - Apr 21 with 1107 views | RevJames | If drivers joined the motorway sensibly at this junction both westbound and eastbound, perhaps there'd be less accidents caused by people not giving way and joining the motorway too fast. Sighting distances westbound are way too short for safety as cars appear from nowhere. Out of town retail parks have badly affected Swansea, Llanelli, and Newport so not sure if the closure of this junction will make that much difference to Port Talbot.
Junction 41 M4 on 22:16 - Apr 21 with 1026 views | Private_Partz | Can we not knock our friends in Neath and Port Talbot? There are many JBs from these areas. No wonder a few of them jump in their cars and head for Scumland. The fact is WAG are prepared to spend hundreds of millions on the twin tunnel issue and are looking for billions to fund the Cardiff Metro. Their solution for this 2 lane bottleneck is to close a junction!! The St Clears to Red Roses improvement is not even a dual carriageway. Edwin Hart does nothing for this area but not voting Labour will not solve the problem. We need better politicians who fight their corner and not toe the line of the mad Cardiff centric policies.
