I get the concept of Northern soul but not really into it. Watching some of those Wigan pier types dancing all weird definitely put the Kaibosh on it for me

Yeah, but I'm sure they probably danced like tw@ts there too. If anything does the impossible, ie trying to describe northern folk swinging their dungarees in a very disconcerting fashion as cool then I'm afraid I'm out

Ian Levine - his old man owned virtually all The Blackpool Mile. Went on to "produce" all that Hi-Nrgy shite.
Massive drama queen - I've seen him in tears when people refused to sell him a record.
The video of Frank Wilson above is from one of Levine's DVDs - getting guys in their 70s to mime to their 60s hits. Bizarre.

Levine's also a massive Doctor Who fan. Squeals like a stuck pig about that too whenever something happens that he doesn't approve of. Drama queen is about right.

I would have assumed you'd have to be an eight-year-old to be a fan of Dr. Who?
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

That Levine did come across as a bit of a drama queen, but big respect to him and the others who were involved in the scene. Interesting to hear what Norman Jay had to say about the exclusivity of the scene and the unwillingness for it to go too commercial. Very much like how hip hop used to be in the 80s. A fine line between preservation of a genre and musical snobbery
