Southampton 17:08 - Jul 28 with 4660 views | GeoffThom | What is going on there ,apart from making 92m and spending 20 they're going to basically have to rebuild a whole side and with the season being a few weeks away not long to get them to gel it's got to be a good case to lump on for relegation they've been absolutely raped
Southampton on 17:11 - Jul 28 with 3030 views | hammy | Yes, seems a bit odd. Maybe it's a case of a business person taking over the reins and trying to make a fat profit as opposed to staying in the PL. We've got them at home on Sept 20th so hopefully they'll be in a bit of disarray by then ;)

Southampton on 17:19 - Jul 28 with 2988 views | ScoobyWho | It's far too late to ask this question, the fans of this club are as spineless as that lot down the road, they are clearly being asset stripped and the millions earned are being pocketed by the owners. And like Cardiff they do nothing, its hilarious.

Southampton on 17:23 - Jul 28 with 2953 views | swanduck | Saints are my local team so I have been paying quite a lot of attention to their situation. A few years ago now their owner, who was some billionaire who loved hte team passed away, and the are now owned by his daughter. Fans are split pretty much 50/50 Half think his daughter has little interest in the club and is now asset stripping before she sells up, and that Cortese jumped ship when he realised what was going to happen Half seem to think Cortese is to blame for everything, as he sold an unrealistic CL vision to players, who now want to leave as that vision does not look like being achieved. Of course there are other views as well but most think one of the above is the case. All are absolutely fuming at the number of players they have sold in one window and anxious bout the upcoming season, some think they may (shock horror) struggle to get in the top 8-10 - they are quite an arrogant bunch, whilst some more realistic fan are worrying about relegation. Personally I don't know what to think, unfortunately for Saints fans I think there are more exits to come this summer. One thing that is interesting though is the appointment of Koeman, who surely wouldn't have joined if he wasn't going to get a large transfer budget, particularly with all the outgoings. He does not strike me as an appointment for if the owner is asset stripping and they need a figure to go along with that.

Southampton on 17:45 - Jul 28 with 2801 views | C_jack | Never seen a side stripped so badly in pre season. They've got shit loads of money though, no excuses for Koeman not to get a decent spine in at the least. Like jumping into a PC game in July and being given 100m to blow.

How did they manage to sign two players then?

Southampton on 18:23 - Jul 28 with 2542 views | Watchman | They had to find something like £56m immediately due to spending on upgrading their academy and also transfer repayments. You could of course now say that they are creaming their initial investment back with the remainder

Southampton on 18:47 - Jul 28 with 2413 views | Private_Partz | Any savings will be academic if they lose their Prem status. Similar things happening in Blakpool. Not pretty in Leeds either. I really think the respective Authorities should get involved as these do not seem to be examples of clubs run by 'fit and proper' people.

You clearly don't remember what happened at Swansea. Thats exactly what they are doing, getting rid of the family jewels and signing a few maybe's, it keeps the average fan happy, and indeed the observers like yourself in check. Fraud takes many forms. [Post edited 28 Jul 2014 19:02]

Southampton on 19:19 - Jul 28 with 2260 views | airedale | People in the area see the football club as part of the community, whilst the foreigner who owns it sees it as a business asset. Maybe even as a business asset that they would like to dispose of. Makes you think along the lines of [something like] there being a law that a certain percentage of football clubs have to be owned by supporters trusts. [Post edited 28 Jul 2014 19:21]
