Well, if they learn guitar and are good at it and maybe learn to write songs or want to get into the music business in another capacity then I'm all for it. More needs to be done to train prisoners (which I believe they do now but maybe not enough) in skills such as carpentry and other vocations to try to properly rehabilitate them.
Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

That's a lot of maybe's there! Do you know how difficult it is to get into the music industry? (I've experience with this and have some close friends who are currently in the industry!).
More needs to be done to punish prisoners! Edcation is what schools are for. Decisions can be made early in life to avoid difficulties further on - but if you do happen to need further education to go places, then what's wrong with further education (which in a lot of cases is even provided free or at a discounted rate?!).
Stop being an apologist for people who should have known better!

Yeah Ian Huntley and Peter Sutcliffe can be the new Hall & Oates. F*ck my eyes.

Listen to Charles Manson's record... and you might change your mind about inmates having access to musical instruments.
But in all seriousness As long as they don't hang themselves with the strings or kill someone with them, why the heck not? I know the navajo nation (The largest Native american reservation in the US) allows for guitars and tribal instrument access in the jails... its a recreation period that is allowed though. they also allow for religious period for celebrating the ways of their people (there's three major tribes and some smaller ones who all live in the reservation) or christian, or what ever..and there's never been any major issues with it.

Where they have their own justice system, Native Americans have very enlightened and very different views about crime and "punishment." I watched an hour-long TV program not long ago which showed it in action. "Punishment" is not the goal, but getting back into the right relationship with Nature [my words] is.
Because Native Americans have a very different sense of religion and mankind's relationship with the creator, so too is their system of justice. I greatly admire their traditional way of life.
