This last week we (me and my family) have been to lliw reservoir upper and yesterday we went to drwslyn castle 2 really nice places and free. Has anyone one got any recommendations. Drwslyn isn't that good if you can'thandle heights.
1. Graig y Nos (Swansea Valley) 2. Llyn Llech Owain Country Park right by Cross Hands and Dyfed's Men's Wear.

Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.
3. Golden Grove/ Gelli Aur (right by Dryslwyn Castle) 4. Carreg Cennin Castle

We thinking of going to golden grove next week. Think I could see carreg cennin well off in the distance ( with help from the zoom with my new camera.) Thanks for the ideas. Never heard of the second one

Craig y nos. Depends on the level of walk you like. My favourite is to park on the old Trecastle road and walk up to llyn y fan. There aren't any paths as such, but you can't get lost.
Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.

The lake area by Cross Hands has a cafe and a play area for children.

Llyn Y Fan fach - nice walk to special lake - above abercrave - little waterfalls where you park up - nice picnic spot there or take 2k walk across moor to the lake with the steepslopes of the Carmarthen Fans above.

you cant see Carreg Cennin from Dryslwyn, its Dinefwr Castle you see in the distance back towards Llandeilo. That's a far better castle with actual towers set in a nice park, but they try and get you to pay there.
Don't bother with Gelli Aur yet, a trust has taken it over after the place shut and fell into disrepair. not a lot to see at the moment there although the deer are still about.
Paxton tower just up the road near Llanarthne has amazing views over the Towy valley and is free to visit.
why the hell did I come to this thread... feeling very homesick. :( I'm going to drop in near the end of the year I think. maybe catch a match while I'm at it.

I could never move away. Pembrokeshire to the west, Gower to the south east, Brecon beacons/black mountain to the north east all within a 45min drive for me. many people don't appreciate what we have on our doorstep in our section of south 'central' Wales

We went up the neath tennant canal today. What a lovely peaceful walk ( apart from my kids) loads of dragonflies never seen so many. Family of swans living on one part of the canal. I've taken some lovely photos with my new camera (see my new camera thread)
