Feck me!!! Maybe if they didnt do so much drugs they wouldn't be depressed!!

Too many party animals of the 80's and 90's are now miserable sods. All due to popping pills.

You have to admit that one's pretty good though.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Speaking from direct experience as a surfer, that's a bit of a generalisation... we're not all stoners or pill heads.

Poll: Some scummer on the anus board reckons 80% of us want them to go down. so... do

Brilliant idea - those of us that are lucky to live near the sea should all take full advantage of it.

Great exercise and hard to feel down walking those brilliant coastal paths, along the beaches and cliffs and in the sea from a quick paddle to the thrill of catching a wave.

Cool outfits - Bony and Chico would fit right in

Sounds a bit silly to me but each to their own.

Poll: Should MP for Swansea East Carolyn Harris resign?

Indeed

I suppose the acid test is does it help those that choose to involve themselves, which it seems to. Exercise (especially fun exercise) and company are generally positive things

and does it do any harm - probably not (barring shark attack / drowning) - in fact all those bright colours and people having fun may make some smile - which is also good for you

I wouldn't lump bodybuilding and rugby together with regard to steroid abuse. Also, you're comparing a performance enhancing drug with a recreational drug. I'm sure plenty of Surfers do smoke weed or even snort cocaine, Andy Irons was the most high profile case where his autopsy found numerous rec drugs in his system, and Kelly Slater should have chosen his words more carefully when he said rec drugs were rampant amongst pro surfers, but we're talking here about a minority who are pros.

Maybe the culture is different in Oz, but as someone who's surfed across south wales and now the NE coast, I've never encountered anyone with a drug addiction, the odd puff of a joint perhaps and definitely some heavy sessions on the beer, but not heavy recreational drug use.
