Having garden landscaped and seen these on offer in garden centre.
Always reckoned they were basically a toy but has anyone got one and does it actually heat open spaces well for bbqs

Good heat with them, useless for cooking food.

Someone I know puts coal in theirs, seems to work very well.

Those ultra violet heat lamps are great for warmth.

I've had a metal one for years and when the lid is off the top and its full of wood, a roaring flame like an afterburner leaps skyward. The iron ones give off a good heat over a few feet.

I wouldn't go for the clay type.

Got very excited when I saw the title to this thread. Thought we must have signed a new Chilean left-back.

Thank you friends.
Think I ll avoid them as we have a large area to heat.
Better to supply warm jumpers .
Was thinking they might also be a home for wildlife creatures we don't want

The whole notion of heating up the outdoors is fecking madness to me. I remember my old science class and mr jones explaining that hot air rises.
