Qatari investment on 15:17 - Dec 17 with 2786 views | monmouth | Fu*k me, there must be something wrong with me. Look, what's wrong with our club as it is - win or lose? Do people really want to expect to win every game, get arsey when we are 'only' fourth, cry when we might not be champions, spunk zillions on players like Fellaini, and most of all be just anyone that some rich publicity seeking turds could have bought, and earn absolutely none of it. If I wanted to 'support' a rich plank's franchise, I might as well just claim undying support Man City or Chelsea. Those clubs are just empty vessels that would be nothing without the random patronage of an ego driven smeg. Underneath the cheering, their 'fans' know that they have no real self respect.

There's plenty of our fans like you describe though. I'm with you, I like our club like it is too. I'm sure the club can always do things better, but not to the extent of hitching up with some moneybag with dubious intent and motives.

Sorry but if someone like the Qatari government wanted to pump millions into a football club ( & no doubt try to compete with likes of Man City) I'd hope it was us. You obviously have far greater morals than me . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Same here. Investment like City's where there no realistic chance of actual financial return is surely the best possible. Someone's gonna get the investment regardless of morals

Well, by greater morals, think that my football club profiting from the enslavement of others is rather poor form, then aye I guess I do. Regular Mother Theresa I must be.

Exactly ...if there was a inkling they were interested in us, there would be a Qatari flag flying in the NE upper. Sorry but no morals from me, if it involved investment from the Qatari government. Mother Teresa I'm not .

I 'm not so sure. The result in terms of the football would be expecting to win everything, getting bored watching any team that wasn't a Barcelona or Bayern Munich and being seen as one of those teams that had just bought success and sold their soul. On the other hand it would be very positive for Swansea's economy I suppose and would upset our capital no end. Mmmm....

I agree. The main benefit of our being in the PL is the money, pure and simple, setting up our club infrastructure for the future. If Spurs get this money, then will go from a top 6 club to a top 4 club. Big deal. I used to get excited the day before a match, but now we're in the PL, I get stressed.

Sorry to state the bleedin obvious here, but I have major reservationss that an Arab State would even consider buying a predominantly Jewish PL club and plough millions into it to take it to the next level... It would surprise Israel & all of the Arab States if this actually happened 😳😳😳

Qatari investment on 22:50 - Dec 17 with 1852 views | Jack123 | 1,000 deaths More than 1,000 migrant workers have died since Qatar was awarded the World Cup in 2010. Workers come off the pitch to give me their list of complaints. A recurring one is the amount of money they have to give the recruitment agents who send them here. "They gave me a contract for 18 months," says another Nepali, Kesang. "When I got here, the pay was half what they promised me. "I spent a year paying off the debt to the agent and was only able to send money back for the remaining six months." Qatar has been sensitive to the criticisms levelled at it by groups like Amnesty International, which condemned the "callous indifference" to migrant workers. Ferking disgusting.. More than a thousand lives lost already..Building the ferking thing..

One small point, they will become a top 5 club as there will be 5 mega rich clubs instead of 4, just my pedantry!! I agree with Monmouth. And recently, because of all the money, all the rubbish that goes with football these days (FIFA corruption, referee's favouring certain clubs, big clubs fixing things to suit themselves, players earning too much money......and much more) I have drifted away from football. It had been that I didn't bother with International football, but recently I haven't been bothered at all. I haven't been to the last 4 home games. While I understand that to move significantly forward, the club needs more inward investment, the thought of our club becoming a rich mans plaything has seriously turned me off. Right now, I don't know when/if I will go again. I don't even think I'll be renewing my season ticket. If the Qatari's came after our club, that would definitely be it for me.
