From day one I couldn't see how Gomis would be happy with getting 10 minutes per game, it was never going to last long. Shame really as we need strength in depth, we don't want the Vasquez and Shechter's of the world being cover, but it's hard to keep top class strikers happy who are not playing, especially at Gomis age. |

As i said earlier in the thread, i think its patently obvious that Gomis was supposed to be our number 1 striker this year. This would have been made clear to him via his agent.
On a limited budget, and gaps in the squad to full - there is no way we would pay someone £17m (if memory serves) over the length of his contract to be on the bench. This has just turned out to be a gamble that didn't pay off for anyone. Hopefully he can step up with Wilf gone though. | |

It's happened at our club very recently.When danny G was here he had his nose put out of joint by Michus arrival and when Bony arrived similar happened to Michu I believe.The same could be happening with Gomis.Trying to keep top strikers happy it takes a good manager.Monk needs to have a word if he hasn't already.he gave him his chance yesterday and although he done ok, he's no Wilfried Bony.Hopefully he'll knuckle down when Wilf is away and take his chance and when Wilf returns it's Wilf who has to fight for his place back. | | | |
