Gomis and his "illness" 15:00 - Jan 25 with 12379 views | Jackfath | This must be a real worry in terms of his value and our ability to offload him. I'd wonder how he manged to end up here with a history like is.

Gomis and his "illness" on 22:13 - Mar 4 by Joe_bradshaw | If he shouldn't be playing football, bearing in mind that we knew about his condition before we signed him and looked into it, why did we decide to pay him all that money? I'm sure the best medical advice we can buy has told us that he is fine to play football. Monk has just said "We understand his history. He has had all the tests but it's just part of life for him." |
yes but what does he know? What do all the doctors and specialists know? A bunch of people on a message board think it's another stick to beat the guy with.

Gomis and his "illness" on 21:53 - Mar 4 by londonlisa2001 | well after discussion he could have clarified couldn't he. You're a complete hypocrite - if anyone other than me (or possibly a couple of others) had called him out on that disgusting post you would have agreed. For him to attempt to point score when a player of ours has collapsed on the pitch is utterly disgusting. |
Isn't this something you accuse me over, thats highly ironic that you are then calling me a hypocrite. Ive had far more disagreements than Fath than you, i hold no grudges unlike yourself. You have form for being wrong and then still claiming you are right though. I don't believe he was point scoring and you seem to be revelling in being pedantic. He obviously didnt mean he fainted every second of the day.

I agree with that. I am also aware that seemingly everything you post (or a lot of it would be more accurate) is tongue in cheek for whatever reason you may have. However, there has to be a time and place for it surely and one of our players collapsing on the pitch seems to me to be spectacularly inappropriate timing, whether tongue in cheek or not. Anyway - as you said, let's agree to disagree.

Gomis and his "illness" on 10:27 - Mar 5 with 1704 views | hammerhead | Firstly hope Gomis is fully recovered — also felt sorry for Spurs given thoughts of what went before. Secondly the club bought Gomis in full knowledge of his condition and obviously on balance thought it was an acceptable risk as part of paying him the massive wedge to come here on a “free”. Obviously Bony potentially going in the summer and not leaving us and Garry without a decent alternative was rightfully a big part in their thinking. Whether he is the best option for us given the style we are choosing to play is a different matter. Obviously makes it much harder for him. Anyway whatever The goals Gomis has created have now earned us 5 times (yes 5 times) as many additional PL points as Bony’s goals had done up to the same point last season. Yet Bony had massively more PL playing time and all the European game time he could wish for to help him integrate. They have also given us 2 of our best wins this season (Arsenal and United at home — Shelvey’s shot was unfortunately going straight at the prepared keeper without the rebound) Also Gomis’ goals have all been against top half teams. Where the additional 6 points Bony’s goals earned us this season before he left in January were all against bottom half / relegation teams. Given apart from 2 starts (related to Bony’s availability — international duty / punishment for red) Gomis only averaged 11 minutes per PL game in the first 4 months, it is all the more encouraging, especially given our current style. His dismay also understandable if he was given assurances about game time (that an in demand striker would be silly not to seek, given Bony might still be here). Now I don’t care if the goals come off his head his arse or another player, or if we get points from a juggling goalkeeper. If he is lucky it means we, Garry and the team are lucky and long may it continue, that is what has allowed us to achieve our 40 points. Of course I would much rather see him achieving points through lovely cohesive attacking play. Finally re JF he is totally mischievous and really likes to stir it up, good taste not a consideration. His recent claim that a picture he posted “happened” to be of a disabled child (when he was — as he often does - trying to belittle another poster) is unbelievably disingenuous. As witnessed by the number of posters who complained at his behaviour in deliberately choosing to post that. Is there room for all as JF said, certainly not given the strong censorship on this site and the abuse and lies still going on against polite posters (whose accounts are repeatedly deleted without warning, no reason given whatsoever and no rules broken). Most disingenuously when false statements are made (including by the Chair of the Trust himself) with no right of reply given. However there is still certainly room for vile abuse and defamation, if you are one of the chosen few, who it seems cannot thrive in their art without censorship of alternative, fact supported opinions.

Thats a great post fair play . This may actually work for us and gomis actually, it puts the frightners on other teams and leaves gomis knowing he only hasto work and prove himself. He hasnt done bad, aøways puts in effort but he aint been great either and his twitter comments regarding moving on just made him come across as an asshøle . No matter which way we dress it up strikers are judged on goals, thats why he gets the big bucks, and that ultimately is how he will be judged here.

This has to be "Sixpenses" re-incarnated. Only he could come up with such bull. Gomis officially has ZERO assists, so he has not "created" any goals. Unless of course you are suggesting his mere presence around the penalty area is creating goals. Or are you talking about the one real Header and the duck out of the way lucky header, that I say was going nowhere the goal keeper? So please list the goals that he "created" that earned us 5 times as many PL points as Bony's goals up to the same point last season.

Well he certainly created the one against West Ham! This is a futile argument though. Bony created space with his very presence. Gomis (so far) frightens nobody. To argue Gomis is in the same class from the evidence we've all seen with our own eyes so far is a non-starter. Although if there is a man on the whole world wide web for the job...

Well, he has been okay the other five times it has happenned to him, and as a defender I too hope he returns to the team. I know a number of people who faint now and again, and it is an accepted fact that that is the way they are, and after the summer I'm not too sure if anyone on here would give much thought about his condition either. Nobody deserves any type of illness, but we are all dealt a certain deck of cards and there are far more important things to be concerned about than a 60 k plus a week footballer who faints now and again. Personally I would be more concerned about the fact he holds a driving licence and drives about Swansea in a big posh car with such a debilitating, unconscious rendering condition.
