Aye. Unfortunately man kind has always been this way and always will be.

Boko Haram last week massacred 2000 people in a village in Nigeria in an ethnic cleansing exercise.

Some truly harrowing accounts across TV and radio today. If you haven't managed to hear any of the interviews on 5Live through the day today I urge you to do so. Unimaginable horror.

You don't have to. Just read or listen to the myriad of eyewitness accounts from survivors and guards et al. It's all there.

The very worst aspect is seeing the clothes and gold of the adults cut away from them before they were butchered.

Letters from the kids too aren't pleasant..

It certainly is and not just the "well known" ones. Gross Rosen is not to far from us and certainly had a profound effect on us when we visited. An equal distance the other way is the Stalag Luft 111 camp (great escape) and this is also a very humbling experience.

I'm sure many, many people did die in these camps and i wouldn't want to trivialise what was a dark time for the human race, but what about the people who died (many women and children) as a result of the British carpet bombing Germany cities, we don't hear much about these poor people.

These people were tortured. Ripped apart by dogs. Made to beat each other up to the death and the last one standing shot. Babies ripped limb from limb in front of their parents. Dig their own mass graves. To save money they threw children onto open fire pits alive. They would transport thousands of people by train, tell them to strip naked to save time taking the clothes off the bodies and put them into a gas chamber to choke to death, women still clinging onto their babies. Some were used for scientific experiments and cut open and "played with".

Unimaginable horror that killed almost 5 million people. 5 MILLION!

Around 600 000 German civilians died as a result of bombing Germany cities including around 76 000 children and babies, so its right not to forget what happened in the camps, but we shouldn't forget the other victims too.
