Budgie were tremendously influential. Lot of American metal bands (Metallica included) cite them.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yes, Sassafras always seemed to be supporting someone I went to see too. Loved Dai Shell, great character but I always found them a bit too country for my tastes.

The Phonics for Kelly's awesome voice, the Manics are good but too smooth for me and Badfinger for pure talent and potential they had, all destroyed by the Sharks in the music industry at the time.

Shark, singular.
Stan Polley, über c*nt. Named in Pete Ham's suicide note.
Ron Griffiths is a huge Swans fan incidentally.

The last few days I've been listening to the latest CD (released on Monday this week) from Finnish symphonic metal band, Nightwish, who have probably been my favourite band for the last decade. Judging by posts on this thread, I'm sure nobody else here has even heard of them.
Anyway, about an hour ago I was doing some work while listening to the CD for maybe the 4th or 5th time on headphones and got to Track 6 called My Walden and realised for the first time that the first verse is actually in WELSH! For a Finnish band with a Dutch singer, that struck me as something quite extraordinary.

I've heard of them and Karnataka - I used to play in a band with a chap who was in another band with their bass player and drummer.
