About time we had one and it's got the word "official" in the title so that makes all the difference. If a mod wants to sticky it, feel free.
I seem to remember that five years ago (on the old, better Planet Swans) we got to nearly 100 pages and then another 60odd with the "aftermath" thread. They were good fun but there were more posters then and we were all a bit more tolerant of others' views. Let's try to be nice to each other, eh.
Anyway, best site for opinion polls is this one in my experience:
Polls are so tight the only conclusion is that the Tories and Labour are head to head nationwide. Can't put a whisker between them.
Tories need about 39-40% for an overall majority. Labour will probably get one on 36-37%. God bless our ridiculous voting system.
So, enjoy yourselves. I'll start with a prediction. Labour to win most seats but slightly fewer votes than the Tories and end up forming some kind of minority government with support from various parliamentary lefties on a vote by vote basis. And then all of a sudden many Tory supporters will discover that they've always hated first past the post and can't understand why we perpetuate a system under which the party which more people voted for than any other can lose the election. It'll be quite funny and lead to calls for a proper voting system. Which everyone will forget about in six months when all the fuss has died down.

Has the Plaid surge begun ?
There is a site on the net that gives predictions for every seat on the mainland in the UK, it currently has amazingly good predicted results for Plaid, who knows if these university professor types have it right according to the current scores on the doors, Plaid could be looking at one of its best ever General Election results as a minimum if their current predictions prove to be anywhere near correct, I say as a minimum because in that eventuality that would only be half the story as the trend might suggest that Plaid might be a major player in Wales in the short term and a big threat to the old Westminster parties.
Has the Welsh Spring begun ?
You lost me at "There is a site on the net".

Plaid have many things against them, Labour frightening people about them in South Wales, which has gone on since at least the war, the scaremongering by Labour still has people scared of Plaid supporters even today, very scared and frightened actually, there are some on this board that themselves seem very scared. The media are against them and of course Wales is full of people not born in Wales, although some might vote for Plaid you would think the vast majority would be too scared.
So these predictions are good news for Plaid, if they come to pass, if there is anything in them its been described as the Leanne factor and Leanne mania, which is quite a tribute I suppose.

Speaking for myself I've only ever voted Labour, (I've lived in Wales for 33+years) , However I now believe after watching the SNP situation in Scotland the Nationalist (Plaid Cymru) Route is the way to go for anyone living in Wales. As Leanne Wood states independence is a very long term goal ( she understands Wales are nowhere near ready to self govern itself yet). However she does not want Wales to be reliant on Westminster "hand-outs" for evermore. This I believe is a very "laudable" position for Plaid Cymru, and the reason why I could be voting Plaid Cymru for the first time. The only problem for me living in Pembrokeshire is that the only way to get "shot " of the Tories is to vote Labour at the mo, a dilemma for me.

I totally agree with you, i'm from the upper Vale of Neath and i first voted in the 83 General Election and voted Labour for Michael Foot, Labour were a socialist party at that point in time and if i remember one of their things at that point was to nationalise the banks, pity that didn't happen perhaps we would not be having to bail them out now. I might well have voted for Kinnock's party once, in a local, European type election, but ever since i voted Plaid, as Labour became a right wing party as they thought they could not compete with Thatcher's tax cuts so i voted Plaid and have done so ever since, Plaid had a stated aim of "community socialism" in 81', nowadays its all social justice is the buzzword, equality and fairness, which you would think would appeal to a lot of people particularly people in Wales. Over that 30 years of voting Plaid, half of it would have been in the Neath constituency and a losing vote [Neath might well fall to Plaid one day, they have generally got closer and closer and the one poll i have seen has them very close this time, as unbelievable as it seems] the other half of my time its been in a Plaid seat so i have been voting for the winning party.
My political beliefs have stayed the same and not moved one inch [that is why i call Labour traitors to the working class and red Tories and describe them as right wingers], Leanne Wood supports the same causes i do not the other way around as i'm slightly older than her and supported them causes first .

It's au contraire.
My dad used to preach in the vale of neath and me mam used to say how lovely the people were. Friendly like.
Sad to see so many voting as their father did and his father before. It's exactly this old class thinking that has to go.
Truly, it makes us look backward.
I've never voted labour as I believed in better and better for my kids..wife too humpy, just to clarify
Can we make a new rule on here that every time someone implies that Labour voters in Wales are unthinking sheep just voting as their parents and their parents have compared to the voters in the hundreds of Tory safe seats who are making informed, rational political decisions has to donate a pound to charity?
If man evolved from monkeys why do we still have monkeys?
