The Official Planet Swans General Election 2015 Thread 20:33 - Apr 7 with 83309 viewsexiledclaseboy

About time we had one and it's got the word "official" in the title so that makes all the difference. If a mod wants to sticky it, feel free.

I seem to remember that five years ago (on the old, better Planet Swans) we got to nearly 100 pages and then another 60odd with the "aftermath" thread. They were good fun but there were more posters then and we were all a bit more tolerant of others' views. Let's try to be nice to each other, eh.

Anyway, best site for opinion polls is this one in my experience:

http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/

Polls are so tight the only conclusion is that the Tories and Labour are head to head nationwide. Can't put a whisker between them.

Tories need about 39-40% for an overall majority. Labour will probably get one on 36-37%. God bless our ridiculous voting system.

So, enjoy yourselves. I'll start with a prediction. Labour to win most seats but slightly fewer votes than the Tories and end up forming some kind of minority government with support from various parliamentary lefties on a vote by vote basis. And then all of a sudden many Tory supporters will discover that they've always hated first past the post and can't understand why we perpetuate a system under which the party which more people voted for than any other can lose the election. It'll be quite funny and lead to calls for a proper voting system. Which everyone will forget about in six months when all the fuss has died down.

What say you?

Poll: Tory leader

Farage now planning to fine people at A@E if they are abusive etc and turn up pisssed..

I mean when the poor ,vulnerable get admitted after trying to d rink away their misery, how does he expect them to find the money for a fine.

Just don't treat them and save the doctors and nurses from a hammering

Voting conservative is going to get these guys into government

Upthecity!

So after Farage is attacked with the usual tedious prattle for daring to discuss health tourism..

The Department of Health has introduced new rules in England, requiring proof of residence status for overseas migrants and workers who require treatment on the NHS

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32281155

So will the current government be dismissed as racist 'scumbags'? probably not, because it's only worth attacking if Farage is saying it.

Voting Conservative is Not necessarily a crime anymore than a bunch of disingenuous class warriors ,whom in days gone by, only did what was best first for the Union Leaders then their members of the Union. The country, pretty much, was left to wither; they didn't give a shite. People might well be too young to remember what a lying chunt Harold Wilson was.

Anyway, nobody yet has been able to help me and define exactly what a "rich" person is.

If you have a (small) boat, two cars, a detached home, money put away for emergencies, have a holiday home ... does that come into that catagory

Farage needs to remember that apparently he only needs to go back a short while in his family tree to find that his ancestors are foreigners and that apparently his wife is a foreigner as well.

There are many of truer blood from Britannia that laugh at Farage and his nonsense and in some cases would look down on him and his ilk.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

No idea what the definition of rich is. But if you take the "tax cuts for millionaires" at face value, a millionaire is anyone who earns more than £150k.

That's inflation for you.

Have they replaced Ed Miliband with a lookalike or something? He was actually quite good at Labour manifesto launch...

That surely wasn't the same bloke who has looked completely out of his depth these past 5 years?

Still on the fence with regards who to vote for, and I'll wait to read some proper analysis which puts it all in simpler terms. On a side note, took my dogs for a walk down at Oxwich yesterday and there seems to be a lot of Conservative support over the Gower way judging by the posters and boards we drove past on the way down there.

Confused here.
150K per annum making you millionaire. Eh not the case.

Suppose technically its a person with more than 1m in assets.

My point was and is that "poor" is yet more bland drivel as bad as "vulnerable". Its down to interpretation. I d say vulnerable describes those who see drugs as pleasurable and an enhancement to their lives.

The guy over the road has a new Range Rover whilst I have a 2 yr old Golf, ergo he s richer than me so Im poor. DAFT? Well no, because its purely objective as to what "poor" is.

I would never ever go out and waste a sum of money that would feed a family for almost a week but some"poor" or vulnerable do just that. These are often the chunts trashing A'E departments

As a card carrying labour member I've not been at all impressed with Ed over the last five years but he's woken up over the last month, thank f**k. He's giving it some sh*t now and it's one million times better. It's certainly caused the Tory campaign to stutter. They were expecting to be streaks ahead at this stage.

He's not against foreigners at all. He just doesn't want them "coming over here", to quote Stuart Lee. Anyway, as predicted it looks like they are an irrelevance to a general election. Today's polls had them on a par with the Greens. That tells anyone all they need to know about how seriously they are taken. But they've been unnervingly quiet so far - that slimy toad must have a trick card up his sleeve and is just waiting for the right time to play it.

most of the polls show Labour edging it with some showing the conservatives in front. Still too close to call but the madness of FPTP favors Labour and the conservative line of just throw sh*t at Ed isn't working.

My money is on a red and yellow coalition that isn't a coalition if you know what I mean.

I imagine Breivik cared less about nationality than he did about ethnicity. If you were of white, Northern European extraction you'd have been fine by Anders.

Cool.

If you fancy parting with it, it would look nice on my bookshelf next to my edition of Glynneath Rugby Football Club 'The Passing of A Century' .

My 2000 years of Welsh history edition is an unsigned common-or-garden edition, but a much cherished edition nonetheless.

Have you read Rhys Evans's biography of Gwynfor, Portrait of a Patriot? It's a magisterial 530 page opus. Read that in conjunction with Gwynfor's own autobiography, For The Sake of Wales and you'll not go far wrong.
