Wouldn't disagree with any of your logic but with Hazard being mainly a left sided player, wouldn't we better having a defensive double barrier on our right rather than on our left? I seem to recall Laudrup using Rangel & Tiendalli in tandem on the right against Everton to nullify the Baines/Pienaar threat and it worked. Not for a minute suggesting we use either of those 2 of course, but we don't know much about how responsible Ayew's tracking back is yet so might we not be better using someone who is good at that on the right to give Naughton some cover?

Plan A for Monk, will def be to nullify teams like Chelsea, until things go wrong and then plan B, Montero et al.
I agree though that Ayew, in that plan is an unknown quantity to the extent that he may not make the starting line up or start up front instead of Gomis, if Monk prefers the idea of pace.
