Plenty on here. Iesu mast.

Not you of course but cum ed and look at the posts. Is worthy of Pravda .

Jeez, not so long ago, Putin was praised for his restraint.

Tap in but I won't take it.

Corbin will be deified in South Wales and demonised in many other places.

He s preaching to the converted and its what I hate

To be fair, Perch, you're exactly the same in reverse. Anyone who expresses an even vaguely left wing view is met by you with an almost immediate ripost with references variously to Putin, Stalin, Tass and now Pravda. As if a left leaning person in 21st century Britain automatically equates to supporting the old Soviet regimes. Or as if left leaning politics in 21st century Britain is in any way comparable to those regimes. It's akin to me accusing you of being sympathetic to various far-right fascists through history because of your stridently right wing views on many things. If I did this t of course it would be equally daft.

And yes, I realise this is only my opinion and that it's not infallible and that other people's views are equally valid whether I agree with them or not.

But J-Corbz is quite clearly not a tory? He's standing for leader too...

He is standing for leader of what is effectively a Tory party, he is probably hoping to split the right wingers in Labour to get elected, what does he hope to do then ?, perhaps convert leading Labour members in the party to supporting left wing policies and then I suppose he will try and convert the country into voting left wing.

I like Janet Daley. She's entertaining and occasionally thought provoking. She's also a bit mental, rabidly right wing and as likely to provide an even remotely unbiased view of any left-leaning politician as Lohengrin.

Well that's not strictly true, Clase, is it? I've often said on here what an essentially decent man I thought Michael Foot was; likewise George Lansbury and Robert Blatchford. In fact at one time or another I've probably sang the praises of figures from all ends of the spectrum if I agree with them or not. I always appreciate a point well made.

I've only just got back from Passchendaele so I've missed this amusing thread but I'd just like too add that I would be absolutely delighted, ecstatic even, should Jeremy Corbyn win the Labour leadership election.

Yeah but it was either you or someone unrelatable. You seemed easier. And you're far less mental than Janet.

Andrew.
I accept your view .its fair comment.
However, I would argue my right wing comments are a knee jerk reaction to some of the stuff on here.

Please think back and you might get my drift.

I'm not right nor left wing per se as I have both views.
It depends on the subject matter.

I do not see things through party or dogmatic eyes.

I mean , I'm pretty much anti monarchist.

I don't think he'll have much of an issue with members. Labour'so membership has leaned significantly further to the left than its leadership has since the mid-90s. Convincing the voters is a different kettle of fish.

Invite Lohengrin as well and we'd spend hours discussing matters of great import. Leave the guitar at home though.

Accessible too for a writer that tends toward the high-brow.

Back to the matter at hand, if Corbyn wins (I'm half tempted to join Labour for the week and vote for him myself ) he'd be the most forthright of Marxian apostles to emerge from the Labour pack since Stafford Cripps. This will be to relive history; performance art as politics and just about the funniest outcome to this contest conceivable.

They'll have to be bring Spittin' Image back in the event, surely?

It'll certainly shake up British public life for a while. Brutal too. "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war", will be howled en masse by Fleet Street editors.

A good question. Straight reportage in latex will probably be enough as I doubt much could top the reality of what's possibly about to happen.

It's your last point I find interesting (not the Trampie bit -he's clearly a deranged WUM), but about your current indecision.

I imagine that is the fundamental problem for Labour party members at the moment - your heart tells you to go with Corbyn if you are a genuine socialist but your head tells you it will result in Tory rule as he is unelectable for the country as a whole.

It's the issue for Labour in general - what exactly can they do if they ever want power other than to move further right and effectively become a social democrat type party to at least temper the excesses of the right. Because the real Labour party is probably finished other than as an opposition who become gradually more marginalised?

That's pretty much it. Heart says Corbyn & head says probably Cooper. Burnham might work, maybe who knows. The less said about Kendall the better. My opinion and apathy is changing hourly at the minute.

The way I feel about it is we are going to lose in 2020 regardless so we might as well actually be an opposition and give our members something to shout about. Can it really get worse than it was this year?

We are haemorrhaging our core vote to UKIP, Plaid and the Greens at every election so we need to try and retain our core vote. I know so many left leaning liberals and people who would never vote tory but don't vote labour and in that sense Trampie is kind of right.

If we are finished then we are finished and there's nothing that can be done about that. We might as well go down kicking and screaming as a Labour Party rather than Tory Lite, losing its parliamentary grip. If people want tories then they vote tory these days. Well they did this year anyway.

But still, still we need to be in government to help people. No middle England, no power,or so the theory goes.
